Joann A. Alexie Memorial School held it’s first ever Walk for Life on Monday, May 14th at 2:00pm. (May 11th was too cold.) The week prior to the event Mackenzie Frye and Margaret Alexie, both members of Future Educators of America, hung up posters in the school and around the community, and told students why we were having the walk. On the day of the walk the entire student body and all staff members headed out to walk all over the village. Mackenzie and Margaret were our leaders. As we walked through the village people were waiting on their front porches cheering us on and taking pictures. When we arrived back to the school the students were already planning a Walk for next school year. Several community members reported on the VHF at how nice it was for the students and staff to be doing this walk.
